3. Crossing kitchen

I’ve never been on a date – no one has ever taken me on a date [expletive] Date before! – but if I went on one, Crossroads would be the dream. It’s a vegan restaurant in Los Angeles and it’s a bomb. It’s the tastiest food ever. The meatball sub and the chicken waffles are my favorites. They are both starters so every time I go they say “What do you want?” and I’m like “The Meatball Sub,” and then they want to move on to the next person, but I’m like “The Chicken Waffles, too.” And I eat them both right. I don’t have any leftovers after that.

4th “I’m in the mood for love”

The first time I heard this song was on “The Little Rascals,” which was my favorite show when I was a kid. I just wanted to be a little rascal. I wanted so badly to kiss alfalfa! There’s a scene where Darla sings, “I’m in the mood for love,” and I remember thinking it was such a pretty song. Then years and years went by until one day I said, “What kind of song was that I thought was so pretty as a child?” And I found a really nice but inferior version of Frank Sinatra on SoundCloud that I listened to while touring Europe. And then I recently found this Julie London version and she just murdered her. She has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. It’s just such a perfect love song. Every time I hear it, no matter what I feel, I want love.

5. Maps

We have a lot of waiting time on tour – yes, tour, something from the past! – and I can’t really go outside because the fans are lined up around the block. But we have things to do. Our favorite game is Speed, a card game that my assistant tour manager Lauren Millar taught me how to play on this really long bus ride in Russia – we played it for two hours that day. And from then on we just played it without a break. It started out as a kind of timekeeper upper and ended up being something we’d do when we were supposed to be doing other things.

6th “We need to talk about Kevin”

This film has the most beautiful cinematography I’ve ever seen – everything is done perfectly, from the framing to the colors. It was one of my biggest inspirations for my own music videos. Every time I look at it I see something new that is awesome about the way it was shot.

7. Driving

After I learned to drive, that was all I wanted to do. It’s a place where I feel very free and anonymous and in control. I drive a black Dodge Challenger that was my dream car. I’ve been saving my money for years and always thinking, “I don’t want anyone to buy it for me because I want to buy it myself with my own money.” But then Justin [Lubliner]A few months before my birthday, my label guy said, “What do you want for your birthday, Billie?” and I just said jokingly, “A Dodge Challenger in matte black.” And I said, “Just kidding, of course don’t get me.” Then, the night before my birthday, we did a photo shoot for the cover of my album, and at the end of the day Justin drove up in my dream car – I probably cried for three hours.

8. Weighted blanket

My mom got one when I was 9 or 10 years old because she can’t sleep without putting a lot of weight on – once when she was younger she woke up between her mattress and bed frame! I had just used hers and finally got my own. I sleep so much better under it, and it’s a good tool for physical affection when you don’t have one.
